What are U.S. Consulates?

U.S. consulates are located in countries outside the U.S. and are managed by the U.S. embassy in each country with which the U.S. has diplomatic relations. Consulates are in charge of issuing passports to U.S. citizens and visas to people who wish to come to the U.S.
